Leading up to the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam, there was only one question on the minds of tennis fans around the world – could Roger Federer reclaim the World No. 1 ranking?
After sailing through his first two matches, the Swiss legend came up against Robin Haase on Friday night – and with a 4-6 6-1 6-1 victory secured a return to the pinnacle of men’s tennis for the first time in 2012.

Before receiving a special commemorative trophy, Federer was given a standing ovation from the Rotterdam crowd for his historic achievement.

With his latest triumph Federer’s case to be the greatest of all time only becomes stronger. He now tops the illustrious list of oldest World No. 1s after surpassing Andre Agassi, who previously held the title at 33 years old.

Along with being crowned World No. 1, Federer was also able to win his 97th ATP World Tour event, defeating Grigor Dimitrov in the final – and in the process inching closer and closer to an astonishing 100 career titles.
